When
6 – 7:30 p.m., Oct. 13, 2025
You are invited to the screening of We Are Still Here, a short documentary about the Duwamish Tribe, the first people of Seattle!
This short documentary was created by 2024 Haury Indigenous Resilience Graduate Research awardee, Tommie Lorene as a part of her project - congratulations!
The film will be shown at 6:00 p.m. on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Monday, October 13, 2025, at the University of Arizona Main Campus, followed by a reception and conversation with a tribal member and author.
The Duwamish are descended from Chief Si’ahl, also known as Chief Seattle. Despite their ties to the land around Puget Sound, the Tribe has struggled for decades for federal recognition and treaty rights.
