Dr. Sallie Marston
Sallie Marston is a political geographer and social theorist and a Regents Professor Emerita in the School of Geography, Development and Environment. She is also the Founding Director of the UA School Garden Workshop. Although recently retired, Dr. Marston continues to support the SGW as a program consultant and continue her research interest on the social, emotional, ethical and learning effects of gardens on school children and young people.
As a feminist scholar of "space and place," Dr. Marston has authored and co-authored several textbooks including World Regions in Global Context: Peoples, Places, and Environments in its 6th edition, The Sage Handbook of Social Geographies, and Human Geography: Places and Regions in Global Context. In 2022, Dr. Marston was recipient of the Ray Davies Lifetime Humanitarian Achievement Award.
