The College of Education awardees received the Haury award to partner with local Native Nations and tribal schools to co-construct a digital literacies and Native American Code Writers Program that strives to include Indigenous knowledge, languages, and values of the communities. This innovative program aims to infuse the culturally relevant approach that Indigenous youth and teachers need to be empowered and prepared leaders to further the work of Indigenizing Education that emphasizes transformative action through local knowledge, local partners, and local ownership of education action and advocacy.
